David is a visual artist from Virginia Beach, VA, now residing in Washington DC.  He regards art as a personal journey into one’s spirit and imagination.  At an early age, he gained attention of family and peers with his God given ability to draw.  He attended Hampton University where he crossed Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Advertising.

As God’s way would have it, he would later embrace his calling as a painter.  Wanting to experiment with his creativity, he purchased a canvas, set of brushes, and a set of acrylic paints to create a picture to hang in his home.  What followed was the discovery of a new passion and way of expression for him.

David started sharing his works in Charlotte, NC, where he resided several years prior to moving to Washington. His paintings have been featured on walls of local galleries and notable museums in Charlotte such as the Harvey B. Gantt Center, and on the walls of schools in New Haven, CT, Washington DC, and Charlotte, NC.  He has participated in and has earned awards at several juried art shows and has auctioned off several original works for worthy causes such as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and The Links Inc. College Scholarship Fund.

Since relocating to Washington DC, he has earned several accolades, including the 2020 winner of the DGS Percent for the Arts International Artist Grant for CW Harris Elementary 2-D public art project.  In addition, he was featured in collaboration with business leaders of Washington DC as Artist of the Month on The Kelly Clarkson Show in 2021.  In 2021 he was selected to be featured as an inspirational speaker for middle school students in Washington DC as part of the school’s and city’s ongoing agenda of using art to help change the narrative in America.
